Chop Suey is popular as a Chinese dish. However Chop Suey
(Chopsi) has become a popular dish among Sri Lankans. Most of the time, we are
able to buy this in Chinese restaurants in Sri Lanka. It is a collection of
different vegetables and a good recipe to empty the fridge in a weekend. Vegetable
Chop Suey well goes with a fried rice, deviled chicken and chili paste.
I couldn’t write a post for few days and today thought of
sharing this recipe. Hope you would like it.
Here is the recipe for Vegetable Chop Suey or Sri Lankan
popular Chopsi.
Ingredients (1 serving dish)
1 Carrot
50g cabbage
2-3 beans
Few Mushrooms
1 Onion
1 bell pepper
Few cauliflower florets
Few broccoli florets
2-3 baby corn
1 tsp. ginger & garlic paste
1 cup chicken /vegetable stock
Salt & pepper as per taste
2 tbsp. corn flour
1 tbsp. Soya sauce
1 tbsp. Butter
Method
Clean & slice all vegetables into bite size pieces.
Here I tried flower shapes in carrots.
In a cup, whisk soya sauce and corn flour with
vegetable/chicken stock. Keep aside.
Heat a pan. Add butter. When it melts add the ginger
garlic paste & onion.
Sauté it. Then add the vegetables & sauté for few
seconds.
Then add soya sauce, corn flour mix.(which we kept aside)
Allow vegetables
to cook. When the mix gets a little thick, adjust salt & pepper.
Remove from the burner.
Serve hot with fried rice.
