Spiced Guava is a popular street food in Sri Lanka. We commonly call it as ‘Pera Achcharu’.Not only guava, we like to eat pineapple, mango, ambaralla or even ‘Veralu’ (Sri Lankan olive) with some spices added. I remember, during the school days we used to buy these from street vendors near the school. They dice fruits and add chili, salt and sugar mixture into diced fruits. We could buy a bag of ‘Achcharu’ for few rupees.
Still, I can’t resist the taste. Recently I tried some guava with added chili, sugar and salt mixture. This simple recipe reminds me my good old days and thought of sharing with you all.
Ingredients
1 Guava
1 tspn chili powder
1 tspn sugar
1/4 tspn salt or to taste
Method
Wash guava. Cut it into small cubes.
In a bowl, mix chili powder sugar and salt together. Add few drops of water into it and make like a paste/sauce. Add diced guava into this and mix well.
sounds interesting.. I normally do this with mango of cucumber... but with Guava it is new

Oh I love this idea. I love fruit but sometimes you get tired of just eating straight fruit. The chili with salt and sugar sounds like a great combo.
